Who is Axelle Red
WHO IS AXELLE RED?
Axelle Red is a Belgian singer-songwriter born on February 15, 1968, in Hasselt. Over a 30-year career, she has sold more than 5 million records worldwide and established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in the French-speaking music scene.
Her debut album "Sans plus attendre" (1993) sold over 500,000 copies across Europe, driven by the singles "Sensualité", "Je t'attends" (1993) and "Le monde tourne mal" (1994). Her second album "À tâtons" (1996), recorded in Memphis with Isaac Hayes and Steve Cropper, exceeded one million copies sold in Europe. In 2002, her duet with Renaud "Manhattan-Kaboul" became the most-played single in France that year and earned her a Victoire de la Musique in 2003.
Axelle Red performs regularly in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada, in venues of 500 to 5,000 seats. UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador since 1997 and decorated with the Order of the Crown by King Albert II of Belgium, she is one of the most internationally recognized French-speaking artists. In 2024 and 2026, she toured Belgium actively (Bruges, Ghent, Leuven) and is preparing a new studio album expected in late 2026.
