SUAREZ X GOOGLE: WHAT BELGIANS SEARCH FOR, HE TURNED IT INTO A SONG
Shadow to Live connected Google and Suarez to turn Belgium's most searched queries into an original song.
Google knows what people think, search for, and feel. Few brands manage to turn that data into something genuinely compelling. Shadow to Live pitched Google Belgium the idea of doing it through music. They said yes.
The challenge was twofold. Find the right artist to take on an unusual creative brief, and convince them to build a song around real search data. Shadow to Live proposed Suarez, then at the peak of his career: he had just sold out Forest National and completed a sold-out tour across Belgium. A credible name, a passionate audience, and the artistic depth to turn raw data into something worth listening to.
The creative constraint was demanding. Write a song based on Belgium's most searched queries of 2018, without it feeling like a branded content exercise. It had to be music first. Shadow to Live structured the collaboration, negotiated the deal with Google, and gave Suarez the space to do what he does best: write, compose, produce. The track came entirely from his studio and his pen.
The result is an original song that captures something real about Belgium in 2018. Not a commercial, not a communication tool dressed up as art. A genuine piece of music, built on a genuine creative challenge, released publicly on YouTube.

This brief was unlike anything I'd worked on before. Writing a song from real Belgian search data is both a total constraint and a total freedom. I loved the challenge.
